Construct triple pace highways: Gadkari’s “re-start-economy” slogan

Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari might be stuck in Nagpur, but that’s not stopping him from taking review meetings via video conferencing to get India’s economy back on track.

Gadkari said plans to increase the construction of the National Highway by 2 to 3 times the current rate in the next few years. He urged states and UTs to speed up land acquisition as delays hamper development pace and asked them to use funds that remain unused with them to the extent of around Rs 25,000 crore.

Calling for more rapid decision-making, the minister said this unusual move is crucial to accelerating economic growth to make India an global powerhouse and a $5 trillion economy. The Minister stressed that every economy serves as the backbone of transport facilities or infrastructure. He requested ministers to track the situation directly, in order to prevent red tape.

He also urged the ministers to interfere in these matters and ensure settlements by local or district administration, so that common citizens would not be inconvenient.

Gadkari pointed out that the transportation of labor to factories can be improved by using sanitizers, among other precautionary measures, by properly observing the safety protocols to maintain a minimum distance of one meter, wearing masks. He observed that supplying laborers with food and shelter is necessary to completely comply with social distance and hygiene standards.

In response to a suggestion, Gadkari said his ministry would begin a helpline to solve transportation problems. As many as 1,315 projects were underway covering 49,238 km worth Rs 5,89,648 crore, of which 819 projects covering 30,301 km costing about Rs 3,06,250 crore were delayed.

It also displayed state-specific issues including pending land acquisition, and environmental clearance that the ministry of Gadkari sent in consultation with states to work out.

Lockdown turns police into ‘inmates’ in nagpur central jail

Nagpur:- The central jail in Nagpur will be completely sealed later this week as a precautionary measure to test the spread of the Corona. In western Maharashtra, seven other jails, including four in Mumbai and Yerawada in Pune, have already gone into lockdown mode following a signal from higher authorities.

It is learned that a whole team of prison officials, including SP Anup Kumar, will enter the prison with their support staff and remain inside until further orders from an officer of at least the rank of police inspector general (IGP). But convicted women and their subordinate employees will live within the jail.

Officials and their entire teams have already spent two weeks inside the prisons in western Maharashtra jails. No one, including the undertrials or convicts, would be allowed to enter or leave the premises except in case of medical emergencies or other conditions that are unavoidable.

SP Kumar said clearance is expected to meet them later this week for going into lockdown. “The provisions were made for camping inside the prison with ample rations to last a considerable time. We also have a doctor inside the medical emergency detention center. Prison lockdown decision is being made to prevent the virus from contracting, “he said.

In order to make the lockdown successful, additional premises have also been approved by the district collector to establish a quarantine facility where the new undertrials would be held for 15 days and their samples sent for testing. “The ones who get bail or those who finish their sentence will be released as usual,” Kumar said.

The prison authorities had already built two quarantine facilities within the premises where a few inmates were housed. After the collector’s approval, they now have an additional 30-bed one produced outside the prison on the program lawn and adjacent to the car wash center owned by the inmate.

Kumar said the quarantine facility was operated by a team, and another will remain in reserve. “Two coordination officers will handle the presentation outside the jail, as well as support staff families. Vendors of vegetables and other important items will be permitted to access the prison staff quarters. We’re piling the ration and other regular needs inside the jail for those, “he said.

कापसाची खरेदी करतांना जिनींग प्रेसिंग परिसरात कापूस खरेदी व प्रक्रियेच्या कामकाजासाठी सेवक आणि मजूर यांची उपस्थित आवश्यक असल्याने त्या संदर्भात सोशल डिस्टन्सिंगच्या नियमाचे पालन करण्यात यावे. एका दिवशी कमाल 20 वाहने किंवा बाजार समितीच्या क्षमतेनुसार येण्याजाण्यासाठी वाहनांना पास देण्यात यावे. हमी भावाने कापसाची खरेदी करणे बंधनकारक असून खासगी व्यापाऱ्यांना कोरोनासंदर्भात दिलेल्या सुधारित नियमानुसार अधिन राहून कापूस खरेदी करण्यात यावी.

कापसावरील प्रक्रिया झाल्यानंतर जिल्हाअंतर्गत व जिल्हाबाह्य सरकी–गाठीची वाहतूक करावयाची असल्यास परवानगी आवश्यक आहे. तसेच कर्मचाऱ्यांना ओळखपत्र देणे बंधनकारक आहे असे जिल्हाधिकारी श्री. ठाकरे यांनी स्पष्ट केले.

नागपुर:- गांधीबाग-महल जोन अंतर्गत भालदारपुरा में कोरोना पॉजिटिव मिलने से भालदारपुरा परिसर सील कर दिया गया है। मनपा आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे ने सील करने के आदेश जारी किए। गांधीबाग-महल जोन अंतर्गत भालदारपुरा प्रभाग क्रमांक 19 का रिहायशी एरिया दक्षिण-पूर्वी दिशा में चिटणीस पार्क, उत्तर-पूर्वी दिशा में अग्रसेन चौंक, उत्तर-पश्चिम दिशा में तारेकर भवन पोस्ट ऑफिस, दक्षिण-पश्चिम दिशा में टाटा पारसी स्कूल के परिसर प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्र घोषित किया गया है। 

इस परिसर में जाने वाले सभी मार्ग सील कर दिए हैं। इससे पूर्व सतरंजीपुरा जोन अंतर्गत बड़ी मस्जिद परिसर, गांधीबाग-महल जोन अंतर्गत बैरागीपुरा, आसी नगर जोन अंतर्गत प्रभाग क्रमांक 3, सतरंजीपुरा जोन अंतर्गत प्रभाग क्रमांक 7 का अधिकांश परिसर, दलालपुरा प्रभाग क्रमांक 21, मंगलवारी जोन अंतर्गत प्रभाग क्रमांक 10, धरमपेठ जोन अंतर्गत प्रभाग क्रमांक 12 आदि परिसर कोरोना का संक्रमण अन्य परिसर में फैलने से रोकने की दृष्टि से सील किए जा चुके हैं।

इन्हें मिलेगा प्रवेश

प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्र में सिर्फ उन्हीं को प्रवेश दिय जाएगा, जो अत्यावश्यक सेवा से जुड़े हैं। शासकीय व अर्धशासकीय सेवा में कार्यरत अधिकारी, कर्मचारी, अत्यावश्यक वैद्यकीय सेवा से संबंधित कारण, अंत्यविधि, निजी डॉक्टर, स्वास्थ्य सेवा से जु़ड़े अन्य व्यक्ति जैसे नर्स, मेडिकल स्टोअर्स संचालक, पैथालॉजिस्ट, एंबुलेंस आदि तथा जीवनावश्यक सेवा देने वाले जिन्हें पुलिस प्रशासन ने पास जारी किया है, उन्हें प्रवेश दिया जाएगा।

Central railway facilities up to 25,000 EPP covers

Nagpur:- Following the launch of 482 Covid-19 isolation or quarantine buses, the Central Railway (CR) is now planning to manufacture covers for personal protective equipment (PPE).

“CR will manufacture 25,000 critical preventive covers for railway doctors and paramedical community from an overall target of 1.5 lakh PPEs by Indian Railways,” said Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Shivaji Sutar.

These PPE coveralls will be as per the Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) approved standard and specification and the sample submitted by Northern Railway.

“The raw material will be picked up from suppliers authorized by the government and each coverall made by the railways will cost Rs 422 including GST, while the one available on the market will cost Rs 808. CR’s own manufacturing of PPE coveralls will provide a huge relief as it will shield its front-line railway staff from being contaminated, “Sutar said.

The PPE coveralls will be stitched at Parel and Matunga workshops on Central Railway. The effort of Parel Railway workshop to tackle Covid-19 is enormous. It has recently manufactured 50 oxygen cylinder trolleys and supplied them to Central Railway hospitals to be used for the quick movement of much-needed oxygen cylinders, apart from its contribution to converting significant numbers of coaches into isolation wards.

The 140-year-old Parel workshop, Sutar said, has the unique distinction of providing services to the armed forces during world wars.

In the last month, CR filled 70,374 freight wagons in 1,415 rakes aside from PPE and converting coaches. At various terminals, about 75 rakes are handled for regular loading and unloading from the divisions of Mumbai, Nagpur, Bhusawal, Solapur and Pune.

Railway staff working 24×7 at various sheds, stations, and control offices to transport critical commodities such as food grains, coal for power generation, fertilizers, weapons, petroleum products, de-oiled cakes, and miscellaneous goods.

Sutar is running on 220 timed parcel trains in which critical items such as drugs, vegetables, perishable items, postal bags, etc. are transported throughout the world.
