Indora Dighori Flyover Nagpur Set to Open for Traffic from August 1, 2026

Indora Dighori Flyover Nagpur opening 2026: Nagpur’s most ambitious ongoing road infrastructure project is now within weeks of completion. The Indora Dighori Flyover Nagpur opening 2026 has been officially confirmed for August 1, bringing long-awaited relief to thousands of daily commuters across eastern Nagpur. Built at a cost of Rs 998 crore by the National Highways Authority of India, the flyover will directly connect several of the city’s most congested localities and dramatically reduce travel time across the eastern corridor.
Which Areas Will the Flyover Connect?
Once open, the Indora-Dighori Flyover will provide seamless connectivity across a critical stretch of eastern Nagpur. The flyover connects Kamal Chowk, Reshimbagh, Sakkardara, Bhande Plot, and Dighori Naka in a single elevated corridor.
These are among the most densely populated and heavily trafficked localities in eastern Nagpur. Commuters travelling between these areas currently face severe bottlenecks, especially during peak morning and evening hours. The flyover will eliminate most of these bottlenecks by routing traffic above the road-level congestion points.
What Work Is Still Remaining?
The project has entered its final phase. Officials confirmed that the most critical remaining task is the installation of a 60-metre-long open web girder in the Pachpaoli area. This is one of the last major structural components to be put in place before the flyover can be commissioned.
Once the girder installation is complete, the final finishing works will begin. These include installation of safety barriers and crash guards, fitting of street lighting along the full flyover length, road markings and lane demarcation, signage installation at all entry and exit points, and final quality checks and load testing before opening.
Authorities are confident that all remaining tasks will be completed well before the August 1 deadline.
Why This Flyover Matters for East Nagpur
Eastern Nagpur has historically been one of the most underserved parts of the city in terms of road infrastructure. The areas around Indora, Sakkardara, Reshimbagh, and Dighori have grown rapidly in population over the past two decades. However, the road network in these areas has struggled to keep pace with the increasing traffic load.
The Indora-Dighori Flyover addresses this gap directly. By providing a high-capacity elevated road corridor, it will reduce pressure on the existing ground-level roads significantly. Urban planners expect that the flyover will improve connectivity between different parts of the city and support future growth in eastern Nagpur.
Benefits Commuters Can Expect
The opening of the flyover will bring multiple direct benefits to daily commuters. Travel time between Kamal Chowk and Dighori Naka is expected to fall sharply. Traffic jams that currently build up at Reshimbagh and Sakkardara intersections during peak hours will ease considerably. Fuel consumption for commuters travelling this route will reduce as stop-and-go driving patterns are eliminated. Road safety will also improve as pedestrian and vehicle conflicts at busy ground-level junctions are reduced.
Residents of the area have been waiting for this flyover for years and are now counting down the days to its opening.
Rs 998 Crore Investment in Nagpur’s Future
The Rs 998 crore cost of this project reflects its scale and engineering complexity. The flyover spans a long distance across multiple busy intersections and required extensive coordination between NHAI, local civic bodies, and utility agencies to complete.
The investment is part of a broader push by the Central Government to upgrade urban road infrastructure across Tier-2 cities like Nagpur. Combined with other ongoing projects like the Koradi Naka flyover and the Kamthi Road redevelopment, the Indora-Dighori Flyover forms a key part of Nagpur’s overall infrastructure transformation currently underway.
August 1 Is a Firm Deadline
Officials have made it clear that August 1 is being treated as a firm target and not a tentative date. Work is being expedited on all remaining components to ensure that the flyover is ready for commissioning on time. The onset of the monsoon season adds urgency to the timeline, as certain finishing works are weather-sensitive and must be completed before heavy rains arrive.
