Practice self-quarantine or face action with the citizens, ADDI Commissioner Bharne

Nagpur: While the administration and the city police ensure that every effort is made to break the transmission of the novel Corona Virus(Covid-19) among the Nagpurians, some quarantined people find themselves roaming around, visiting families and friends who pose a severe threat to others and accepting norms as granted.

But enough is enough, says Dr. Nilesh Bharne, Additional Commissioner (Crime) and that punishment would reward such obstinacy.

“To date, the town has about 500 quarantined workers on record. They were advised to self-quarantine for at least 14 days, to contain the outbreak of novel Corona Virus, for the benefit of themselves and the society.

We were amused to see the person wandering around, hanging out with family and friends, though. These actions poses danger not only to them but to society itself, “Bharne said.

“If any offenders of Covid-19 or self-quarantined workers find breaching the regulations laid down by the District Administration, they will be booked under section 188 of the IPC,” added Additional Commissioner.

The administration needs your support: Bharne urged citizens to contribute for their own good while the country faces the worst global epidemic.

“Those who were quarantined within the home also tested negative. They were kept under watch, however. We asked them to be in quarantine for 14 days to ensure there was no symptom.

Civic bodies track everyone who has been quarantined while the health of cops ensues. Even physicians are on call if home quarantined individuals need any support, guidance or advice, “he said, urging people to assist the administration.

Student with quarantine mark unloaded at Nagpur from Rajdhani

NAGPUR: A student with a quarantine stamp on his hand was stopped and offloaded on Sunday at Nagpur station. He was taken to the MLA Hostel quarantine facility in a Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) ambulance as a precaution.

A New Delhi-based couple was detrained from Bengaluru-New Delhi Rajdhani Express in Kazipeth on Saturday. The 21-year-old student had returned from Russia to Delhi traveling in New Delhi-Chennai Express. He had a Chennai card and was a coach in the AC-3 tier B2. He’s a Vijayawada Local.

The applicant, traveling alone, was screened by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the railway hospital’s medical team at theCovid-19 check booth set up by Central Railways near Platform 1. His recording of temperature was’ natural,’ a Railway source said.

While the railway workers tried their best to reassure the man, anxiety and frustration were written on his face as he pulled his luggage into the ambulance before it sped off.

At Itarsi, some co-passengers saw the home quarantine stamp on his hand when the train arrived there around 10.30 am. Panicked, they immediately told TTE Sunil Kumar Singh, who had been alerting the commercial control room and railway station in Nagpur.

At Nagpur, along with deputy station superintendents Manish Gaur and Atul Shrivastav, assistant commercial manager (goods) SG Rao and a nursing team headed by the divisional medical officer of the Central Railway hospital Dr. Chandrashekhar were ready for assistance. Commercial department workers had notified the control room of the state government, requesting assistance in moving the passenger to the MLA Hostel quarantine facility.

“Once the train reached Platform 2 at the railway station in Nagpur at 14.30pm, we de-trained the passenger. There was no panic as the passenger hasn’t tested coronavirus positive yet, “Rao said. “We had the whole coach sanitized at Nagpur before the train left for the further journey,” Rao added. “Any aspect of the passenger’s coach could be using has been thoroughly sanitized,” he said.

MLA Hostel sources said the student was not going to be screened because he was not a’ patient’ but just listed as a’ home quarantine.’ He will be released, if no signs emerge, after at least 48 hours according to the current government guidelines.

“If symptoms arise he (the student) will be tested. Under no conditions will he be permitted to use public transport before 14 days, and would have to live back at the MLA Hostel quarantine facility, “a health official said.

Passenger trains are seen as the main means of transmitting coronavirus since thousands of people use the railway network. Also, authorities and front-line personnel are finding criminal cases very difficult to identify.

On Saturday, a Delhi-based couple was offloaded at Kazipeth in Telangana on Saturday after co-passengers noticed a home quarantine seal on a man’s side. After sanitization, the AC compartment in which they were traveling was sealed and passengers in other compartments adjusted.

Gratitude, love in the air as people answer a call at 5 pm

Nagpur: The whole town reverberated from nearly all rooms, balconies and doors in the sounds of clapping, utensils clanging, cheering and praying at 5 pm.

There were few who did not turn out during the coronavirus epidemic to express their empathy and affection for the selfless heroes who worked tirelessly for humanity. Doctors, policemen, house assistants, students, and media persons were all in the midst of the Janata Curfew receiving praise and blessings from citizens.

Zingabai Takli saw people playing dholaks and banging utensils while crackers also burst in Ramdaspeth and Manewada.

Sadhana Hajare, a Rajendra Nagar homemaker on Hingna Avenue, was joined by all the other ladies on the balcony and at their doors. She blew the conch as male leaders enthusiastically clapped and expressed their gratitude to the selfless staff. “We all blew the conch and banged utensils as well, particularly the kids had great fun banging away in excitement to glory,” she said.

People were standing barefoot on the footpath at Hanuman Nagar which should have been avoided. And all one could hear in housing societies in the Nandanwan and Sonegaon area was sounds of utensils and sight of people standing on the balconies.

Aishwarya Choubey, a law student who lives in the area of Itwari, said, “People in my society came out on the terrace and began to clap loudly. It felt like India won the world cup, and we’ll certainly win over that virus. My salutation to all of today’s media men, police and unsung heroes.

“An innovative idea came up with Sangeeta Deshpande, a Kathak teacher at Gandhi Nagar. She and her daughter circulated an audio clip to all her Kathak students via social media and started dancing and clapping to the beats at around 5 pm. “We had an audio clip with a typical Kathak rhythm, so we decided to do it in a special way, so we danced so clapped our steps as we did,” she said.

Navin Kulkarni, a café owner staying at Laxmi Nagar, said that people were so enthusiastic about the 5 pm clapping and ringing bells that people even called out his sleeping grandparents to take part.

“My grandparents wake up in my neighbourhood. People were clapping in balconies, ringing bells and banging utensils too, “he said.

Users also went live on their Instagram accounts, shouting’ Go Corona Go’ and playing loud music as well as dancing to the same song.

In addition to the usual clapping and ringing, some people even came out with musical instruments like dholaks, manjeera and conches, creating a loud noise. “The folks in the apartment played theme music that we all had conch and bells.

Some young people softly whispered, too, and others were online streaming. It was magnificent indeed. When everyone came together and united to rid themselves of this fatal ill virus, “a professor Urmi Chakraborty said.

No balcony was vacant at the Pritam Complex in Lakadganj, as all residents came out and banged utensils, instruments and clapped. According to Nachiketa Pandey, a working professional, “My brother blew the apartment conch and bugle. We have come together at this moment to support all of the people working day and night, “he said.

A company secretary, Madhur Gandhi, provided some insight into the situation at New Mankapur. “People were playing loud music on speakers, and bursting crackers as a sign of appreciation to show our gratitude,” he said.

Kshipra Banode, a housewife who lives on Amravati Road at Patrakar Sahniwas, said, “People were playing manjeera, dholak and what not. This was a sight to see as people came together to embrace the disorder and stand together, “she said.

Private hospitals to close down their OPD

Vidarbha Hospitals Association (VHA) has called on all the private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics in Nagpur to keep their outpatient departments (OPDs) closed from 21 March in order to prevent rushing into safe hospitals and visits to daily tests. Nagpur: Dr Ashok Arbat, President of VHA, said all the hospitals will continue to provide emergency services.

“Hospitals linked to VHA have stopped routine visits to health inspections and have now postponed the scheduled operations. Now all our hospitals and nursing homes have been called upon to retain closed OPDs and to warn patients not to come to routine check-ups, “he said. Most private corporate hospitals in town are linked to VHA.

“Private hospitals are committed to supplying government officials with their facilities to combat the outbreak of coronavirus. We are in regular contact with the authorities of the country, “he said.

Dr. Arbat also recommended patients to visit hospitals or clinics from 21 March for routine examinations, if this was not required. “If possible, you can call the doctor and make sure that the OPD works or does not,” he said.

The VHA assured its readiness to work with the government authorities by offering assistance in the quarantine installations for technological or human capital. VHA has already suggested that a whole hospital with less occupancy be transferred to the government and established as the “Quarantine Hospital.”

In the meantime,’ Talk to Doctor ‘ 24X7 Helpline has launched the Indian Medical Association (IMA). “Patients should call 9999672238 & 9999672239 and address it with doctor 24 hours a day. We should have all the information about coronavirus, “said Nagpur IMA President Dr. Kush Jhunjhunwala.
