Avoid Kite Flying in Metro Vicinity

Metro services operate between Sitabuldi Interchange and Khapari Metro Station on a daily basis and continue to Depot. Likewise, Metro Train operates between Sitabuldi Interchange and Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station and, where appropriate, further till Hingna Depot. A 25000 Volt Metro Train is essential for operation. This will flow through Over Head Equipment, located across the track. Kite flying near the subway project could entangle Kite-Manja in the overhead wires. If the Kite-Manja gets tangled up, it could lead to further mishap involving the kite-flyer.Maha Metro urges people to desist from flying kite near the Metro road. This is important to avoid any mishap and also to ensure that there is no disruption to Metro Train services due to any such eventuality.

Study by VNIT suggests new bodies, measures for water woes in the metro region

A joint study by professors and students of the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) and the Keio University of Japan (KU) recommended the establishment of an urban-rural governance coordinating entity in Nagpur to address water conflicts arising from rapid urbanization, crop loss, forest conservation, land use and food security concerns in the subway. The report also highlighted the decreasing availability of water in the Nagpur Metropolitan Area (NMA) and suggested the creation of alternative sources of water in various parts of the district. Numerous agencies are involved in water management in the Nagpur region, but policy coordination at different levels is needed for sharing water in NMA, it says.Under land cover change, the study prioritizes the need to ensure food security in NMA as fertile agricultural land was lost to urbanization in its northeastern area between 2006 and 2018. The report shows the flow analysis of people in urban, rural and forested areas along the Pench corridor. It carries a foreword from Mayor Sandip Joshi, who states that the study offers an insight into Nagpur’s grassroot-level issues, and that the secret to achieving sustainable urban development is to improve urban-rural linkages.
The report Building Resilient Cities — By Urban-Rural Partnership cites water as one of economic growth’s main determinants and calls for a holistic long-term plan to balance supply and demand of the region’s scarce resources. In view of declining water availability in the Totladoh dam, the researchers also recommended alternative water sources, such as the Rehari dam on the Kanhan river, to meet growing water demands.Showing a comparison of decadal results, the study points out that areas near Nagpur City are experiencing maximum rural-urban transition. On Thursday, a round table was held to discuss the study submitted to the Nagpur Mun by representatives of disaster management institutions, civil bodies, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and VNIT, KU professors. GS Saini Director of National Fire Service College (NFSC), NMC Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Uchake, VNIT Director Pramod Padole, and the research teams were present.Kamakshi Thapa, Harshitha N, Sameer Deshkar (all from VNIT), Vibhas Sukhwani, Rajib Shaw, Wanglin Yan (all from KU) and Bijon Kumar Mitra (IGES) are among the researchers. The study is part of the research carried out under the Bilateral Agreement between India and Japan. The study aims to apply in rural and urban Nagpur the concept of’ Regional-Circular Ecological Sphere (R-CES). It details the physical and changing climate characteristics, demographic transitions, land use / land cover change, Nagpur water source areas, urban-rural water conflicts, water policy and governance aspects, and urban-rural partnership avenues, as well as recommending entry points for R-CES. Professor Deshkar said the concept of R-CES is based on an integrated policy approach that incorporates low-carbon society, the circulation of resources, and living in harmony with nature.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari To recommend that airlines substitute sugar with honey. Which safe is the swap?

Planning to reduce sugar this year?

Planning to reduce sugar in 2020? We’ve got some news for you! In a refreshing move, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke of a recent decision asking major private and public airlines in the country to consider adding honey as an alternative to sugar for passengers on board their flights.

Happy with that advice, huh?

Speaking at an event, the minister said that people will soon enough have the option to choose healthier variants with their meals. Talking about the move, he said: “Normally, one spoon of honey is equal to three spoons of sugar. Currently, refined sugar sachets are provided on board to passengers, so we are trying if we can provide honey sachets or honey cubes in flights and hotels,” In the past too, the government issued directives to serve low-fat, low-carb meals to crew onboard and give passengers the option to have nutrition-rich food like besan chilla, oats, egg whites and paneer that are low cholesterol foods.

Here’s the reason why

We all know that sugar is a major contributor to our diet, and our addiction is a major health concern. It’s never a bad idea to reduce your sugar addictions from diabetes, obesity and a host of other side effects.

What’s a better alternative for the honey?

Sugar and honey are both sweeteners-their natural structure is the only thing that makes honey healthier. While sugar is made up of glucose and fructose (50-50 ratio), honey is also made up of sugar but contains only 30% glucose and a little less than 40% fructose. It also contains several other types of sugar molecules that take longer for the body to digest and are not always stored as fat. This means that this is relatively healthier. There are also zero preservatives and additives in pure organic honey, which is another risk factor when you eat processed sugar. In addition, honey also has a lot of health benefits-from serving as a natural immunity booster, supplying nutrients and minerals, including amino acids, minerals, and antioxidants.

But is this the best option?

Also, as sweet and calorie-laden as sugar, honey is just a little healthier. You can run the risk of overdoing it, as with anything sweet. Honey can be safely swapped with sugar in your daily diet as long as you use it in moderation. Remember, it’s not the safest alternative in the end!

There are better options available?

Do not go crazy with natural sweeteners and extracts if you plan to cut sugar. Nevertheless, jaggery or seed, date and coconut sugar, stevia or molasses are some of the best options.

Bank service charges you should know about

Avoid paying extra fees and charges by keeping track of your accounts and cards and using bank charges only when you need them While NEFT and RTGS are no longer paid, you will still have to pay for IMPS transactions. From this year onwards, you can pay no fees for bank transfers through NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) or RTGS (Real-time Gross Settlement). Shortly after its July monetary policy review, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) declared that processing fees paid on NEFT and RTGS transactions will not apply as of January 2020. But this news may have come as a surprise to consumers who don’t know about the fees charged by banks on various services. We mention a few changes of this kind.

These are imposed on cash deposits by many banks beyond a certain transaction limit. The first few purchases are, in most cases, free. Usually, for transactions made in your home branch, the rules are more relaxed. “Cash handling fees are an integral part of the bank’s costs. While transacting from your home branch allows for higher limits, you still have to pay charges of somewhere between 50-150 per transaction if you exceed that limit, “said Navin Chandani, Chief Business Officer, BankBazaar.com, a marketplace for online financial services. Although NEFT and RTGS will no longer bear a fee, transactions with IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) will still be paid. The fee is primarily dependent on the amount being transferred and the bank’s transfer policy. Usually, it’s in the range from 1 to 25.

Lack of minimum balance:- In your savings account, almost all banks insist on keeping a monthly or quarterly average balance. For example, customers holding savings accounts in metro and urban center branches are required by the State Bank of India (SBI) to maintain an average monthly balance of about 3,000. For customers in semi-urban branches, the requirement drops to about 2,000 and for rural branches to about 1,000. The bank charges about 5-15 for failure to maintain the required balance of the account. While this may seem trivial, some banks can charge as much as anywhere between 200 and 500.

While it may not sound like a problem to maintain a minimum balance in your bank account, the trouble starts when you have too many bank accounts to keep track of. Think of all the wage accounts that different employers have opened. Once you leave your job, these may cease to be zero balance accounts and may begin to incur a compounding fee as the balance decreases. Keep track of your account balance or open accounts that do not have this provision to avoid paying this charge.

ATM, debit card and cheques:-Banks are allowed to charge customers for more than five transactions made at ATMs in a month, according to the RBI mandate. Depending on the type of transaction, the charges can differ according to the type of transaction. For example, SBI allows eight free transactions to its regular savings bank account holders, including five at SBI ATMs and three at ATMs from other banks. These account holders earn 10 free transactions in non-metros, including 5 at SBI ATMs and 5 at ATMs from other banks. The regulator also said banks are unable to charge customers for transactions that have failed. When you misplace your wallet, you will be paid a $50-500 repair fee by your bank. When you forget your ATM PIN, it is also likely that you will be charged for each reset.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to avoid paying the fees in full. “Many of these charges are interconnected. For example, some banks, even at their own ATMs, require just three to five free transactions. Then there will be additional annual debit card charges, depending on the type of card and account, to the tune of somewhere between 100-1,500. Even if you want to turn from cash to check, you’d have to pay to issue a chequebook, “Chandani said.RBI does not allow banks to charge more than one hundred and fifty per check for the speed clearing of checks worth more than one lakh; there are no charges for values up to one lakh. Keep in mind that if your check bounces, whether you are the issuer or the depositor, you will also have to pay a fee of somewhere between 100 and 150. You will have to pay a fee again if you give a “stop payment” instruction on a check that you have already issued.

Alerts and instructions:-SMS notifications began as a security feature designed to keep you up to speed with your account transactions. This should assist in the prompt detection of cases of fraud. The safety measure, however, comes at a cost. Banks charge SMS alerts around 15 per cent. Standing instructions given to your bank will make life easier when you automatically make your EMIs and bill payments. But for setting up standing orders, some banks charge a one-time fee and a recurring fee for processing it every time. For example, for setting up a standing instruction, SBI charges a one-time fee of approximately 50.

Documentation:-Banks will charge you for issuing documents as well. “Banks charge between 50 and 150 for issuing duplicate physical passbooks and statements of account. Nonetheless, email statements are not charged, “Chandani said. It is better to keep track of your accounts through net banking. If you need a written statement, take a printed statement yourself and get it certified by the bank. Moreover, some banks even charge for certification. For example, SBI charges 1150 for signature verification.
