Look, I’m not a fan of[it].” I don’t think the intention is going to be the right one, because then you’re going to talk about three-day tests, where do you end up? Then you’re worried about Test Cricket vanishing. I don’t agree with that at all.” I don’t think that’s fair to the purest format of the game-how cricket began initially and five-day test matches were the highest test you can have at the international level. Almost a day after Iran’s missile attack on Iraqi bases hosting US forces, satellite images showed the damaged area in the region attacked by Iran in response to the US airstrike killing its top general, Qasem Soleimani. Satellite images were taken by one of the SkySat satellites owned by the San Francisco-based Planet service. The images show the damage and wreckage of the al-Asad airbase in Iraq after the Iranian rocket attack. The images were taken on January 8, 2020, by Planet Labs Inc.

During Iran’s missile attacks, no American soldier died: Trump

President Trump, who spoke to the White House nation on Wednesday, said that no Americans or Iraqis were killed in the attack. There was an examination of the damage. Trump said that Iran appears to be standing, which is a good thing for all parties concerned, and a very good thing for the world.

Mumbai: The Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented today the first Vasudeo Gaitonde Kala Jeevan Gaurav Jeevan Award to the late Akbar Padamsee (posthumously). The award was given to Padamsee, who died yesterday, at the opening of the 60th Maharashtra State Art Exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai. The award for late Akbar Padamsee was won by Art Curator Abhijit Gondkar. The Governor also awarded the State Exhibition Award in the Professional category to Nagpur’s senior painter and veteran teacher Arun Morghade. The prize includes a check for Rs 1 lakh and a memento.

Fifteen young artists whose works were chosen for the show were also congratulated by the Governor. The Higher and Technical Education Secretary Saurabh Vijay and Art Director Rajiv Mishra were present. The Exhibition Catalog was issued by the Governor on this occasion.

NAGPUR: Highways and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has promised to meet the demands of the North Indians in the city to extend the Amravati-Jabalpur express to Allahabad.

Earlier, Gadkari had promised to extend train number 12159/12160 Amravati-Jabalpur to Rewa, in response to a poll campaign in Prabagh 12-D for BJP candidate Vikram Gwalbanshi.

However, Rail Yatri Sangh (RYS) secretary Brijbhushan Shukla said, “Extension of the train until Rewa will not serve the purpose, as there is already a direct train from Nagpur to Rewa on Wednesdays. It would be better if the train were extended to Allahabad. “The distance between Nagpur and Allahabad is 913 km. Nagpur-Jabalpur distance is 575 km and if it is extended to Allahabad, the train will have to cover an additional 239 km.

In a memorandum to Gadkari, RYS requested that many of the patients from Madhya Pradesh and Allahabad travel to Nagpur for treatment. “If extended, many people travelling from the region to Allahabad will benefit,” Shukla said.

Although there are trains to Allahabad passing through Nagpur, they have a lower quota for the city. At least 8-10 private buses run daily from the city to Allahabad. These operators are exploiting passengers by charging them exorbitantly. Gadkari has promised to do what is needed, Shukla said.

Meanwhile, with the general budget likely to be presented on 1 February, Basant Shukla of Bharatiya Yatri Kendra (BYK) reiterated its call for either the start of a new train to Ratlam or the extension of the Nagpur-Indore train to Udaipur-Ratlam.

“This will benefit a large population of Rajasthans living in Nagpur, who often travel to their native places,” Shukla said.

NAGPUR: Alarmed by the imminent introduction of the National Population Register (NPR) exercise to be accompanied by the National Citizens ‘ Register (NRC), many Muslim cities are now running from pillar to post trying to collect their own documents as well as those of their ancestors to prove citizenship.

While there is no clarification as to what paperwork is going to be required, people start with birth and death certificates. The basic reason Muslims are first in the queue is the fear of becoming stateless in the event that they fail to make it to NRC as the Citizenship (Amendment) Act has disqualified the religion from obtaining nationality.

For many, Qabristans (cemeteries) is the first destination where they bury their parents and grandparents. The irregular visits are caused by their parents and grandparents ‘ incomplete birth and death records next to their own.

On Monday, TOI visited the Department of Birth and Death of NMC, Jaripatka and Mominpura burial grounds, which are said to be the oldest in town dating back to 1857. Officials confirmed that there is a sudden rush to get birth and death records from all three places.

Amateur Rahman Khan, NMC health officer and sub-registrar, said so far that many have not cared to hold or misplace decades of death certificates. “We still have to get the guidance, but people want all documents to be kept in place,” he said. Khan said that on the NMC website, people can also check their records online or visit his department.

Worried people who have been queuing up at NMC’s Civil Lines office since morning are guided to bring a’ ghat copy’ or acknowledgment from the place where the last rites were held for a delayed birth/death certificate being further processed.

Records are available at Mominpura from 1938 when a couple of days ago they received a request for a 1925 death certificate. Officials from Jaripatka said they had documents from 1965. In order to get a’ ghat copy’ or burial acknowledgment letter, people need to show slips issued by Qabristan Committee at the time of burial.

Several document seekers are those whose parents have passed away and have no certificates of birth/death. Surprisingly, they have records from their ancestors. “People feel that death certificates should fit grandparents ‘ birth/death certificates to prove that their parents were legal Indian citizens besides their own documents,” said an official.

Another clause pursuant to Section 13(3) of the 1969 Registry of Births and Deaths requires certificates to be given subject to certain conditions. An applicant must carry a’ ghat copy’ and send it to the department that performs a police verification and prepares a non-availability (NA) application to be submitted to JMFC with ID proof of the deceased. The applicant must then obtain a favourable order based on which the certificate is issued by the NMC. For delayed birth certificates, school leaving certificate and ID proof has to be submitted for preparing the NA proposal.

A day after the former chief minister of Maharashtra and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis slammed a protest in Mumbai in solidarity with JNU students and teachers where a poster ‘ Free Kashmir ‘ was spotted, his former ally Shiv Sena had a different approach to the issue. Speaking to the media, Sena’s Sanjay Raut said the poster said the Valley wanted freedom from internet bans and other restrictions placed on the state prior to the government’s decision to repeal Article 370. J&K faced an unprecedented lockdown when the government of Narendra Modi decided to end the state’s special status and divide it into two territories of the Union — J&K and Ladakh. Yet Raut was quick to add that if the poster indicated that Kashmir was seeking liberty from India, “it won’t be tolerated.”

When asked about Sunday’s violence in JNU, where a masked, armed mob attacked students and teachers left 34 injured, Raut said: “If there’s an ideology struggle, why do you hide your face? Tell us what your philosophy is. “Fadnavis tweeted on Monday:” Protest is for what exactly? Why are’ Free Kashmir ‘ slogans? How can we tolerate such separatist elements in Mumbai? Azadi gang’s’ Free Kashmir ‘ slogans 2 km from CMO? Uddhav Ji, would you tolerate this Free Kashmir Anti-India campaign right under your nose? Hundreds thronged in solidarity with the targeted students and teachers at Mumbai’s India Gateway. The demonstrators were evicted on Tuesday, however, and moved to Azad Maidan to avoid a situation of law and order. Home Minister Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh said the students were working together and the situation was calm. He added that there was only one poster from Kashmir and they looked into the issue.

मुंबई-अहमदाबाद रूट पर बहुप्रतीक्षित तेजस एक्सप्रेस ( Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express) 17 जनवरी से दौड़ने लगेगी। यह देश की दूसरी ऐसी प्राईवेट ट्रेन (Private Train) है जो पूरी तरह से भारतीय रेलवे खानपान और पर्यटन निगम (IRCTC) द्वारा चलाई जाएगी। यह ट्रेन सप्ताह में छह दिन मुंबई और अहमदाबाद के बीच संचालित होगी। IRCTC ने देश की इस दूसरी प्राइवेट ट्रेन का शिड्यूल जारी कर दिया है। इसका उद्घाटन 17 जनवरी को किया जाएगा, वहीं आम लोगों के लिए इसकी शुरूआत 19 जनवरी से होगी। देश की पहली प्राइवेट ट्रेन लखनऊ से दिल्ली के बीच चलाई जा रही है।

• सफर के दौरान चोरी होने पर मुवाजा:-पहली बार, आईआरसीटीसी मुंबई-अहमदाबाद तेजस एक्सप्रेस में यात्रा करने वाले सभी यात्रियों को 25 लाख रुपये का मुफ्त बीमा दे रहा है। बीमा कवर में यात्रा के दौरान चोरी या डकैती के खिलाफ 1 लाख का बीमा बीमा भी शामिल है। खास बात ये है कि घर में सामान के इंश्योरेंस के लिए आपको कोई भी अलग से चार्ज नहीं देना होगा। बीमा के लिए IRCTC ने लिबर्टी जनरल इंश्योरेंस के साथ करार किया है। वहीं आईआरसीटीसी यात्रियों की मांग पर टैक्सी हायरिंग और होटल बुकिंग की सुविधा भी बढ़ाएगा।

• 10 जनवरी से शुरू होगी बुकिंग:-अहमदाबाद से मुंबई के बीच चलने वाली तेजस एक्सप्रेस (ट्रेन संख्या 82901/82902) अहमदाबाद से सुबह 6.40 बजे रवाना होगी। दोपहर लगभग 1.10 बजे ये ट्रेन मुंबई सेंटल पहुंचेगी। वापसी में इस ट्रेन को मुंबई से दोपहर 3.40 बजे चलाया जाएगा। रात 9.55 बजे ये ट्रेन वापस अहमदाबाद पहुंच जाएगी। ये ट्रेन अहमदाबाद से चलने के बाद रास्ते में नांदेड, वड़ोदरा, भरूच, सूरत, वापी और बोरीवली स्टेशनों पर रुकते हुए मुंबई सेंट्रल पहुंचेगी। ट्रेन का परिचालन हफ्ते में छह दिन किया जाएगा।  इसकी बुकिंग 10 जनवरी के बाद शुरू होगी।  तेजस एक्सप्रेस में तत्काल टिकट की कोई सुविधा नहीं होगी।

• लेट होने पर मिलेता है मुआवजा:-तेजस के लेट होने पर यात्रियों को 250 रुपए तक मुआवजा मिलता है। ट्रेन 1 घंटा लेट होती है तो 100 रुपए और 2 घंटे लेट होने पर 250 रुपए रिफंड दिया जाता है। आईआरसीटीसी दिल्ली-लखनऊ के बीच चलने वाली तेजस एक्सप्रेस में सफर करने वाले यात्रियों को 25 लाख रुपए का रेल यात्रा बीमा मुफ्त में उपलब्ध करा रहा है। आईआरसीटीसी ने सभी यात्रियों के मोबाइल नंबर पर एक लिंक भेजता है। इस लिंक पर क्लिक कर यात्री क्लेम के लिए दावा कर सकते हैं। दावा मिलने पर इंश्योरेंस कंपनी क्लेम का भुगतान करता है।
