ATS investigates the house of gangsters, father rounded up

Nagpur updates:- Following a tip-off from their counterparts in Mumbai, the state’s anti-terrorist squad carried out search operations at gangster Ashu’s East Nagpur home, whose other properties, too, bore the brunt of the legal action. His boss, too, was being rounded up for questioning.

As part of the ongoing investigation, on Monday the ATS grilled the gangster’s father with rackets of fake money, weapons and even substances such as MD drugs in relation to his suspected connection.

Security agency sources said the latest action by the ATS against the gangster and his family kicked off after they tried to bail out an MD kingpin in Mumbai captured by celebrity cop Daya Nayak who is currently working with ATS. The agency had found a close link between the father of the MD racketeer and the Nagpur based gangster.

The gangster, arrested by the criminal branch in Nandanvan a few months ago for possessing firearms, is learned to have bought many properties in the last year, including the building of a bungalow.

Apart from other storylines, the gangster and his family also own three cars in prime locations. The guns discovered in the gangster’s hands are learned to have some government seal on them, but what action cops had taken to know the source is not known.

At least seven businessmen and a top politician from Akola lost more than Rs two crores on May 9 of last year through dubious action by Lakadganj police who had intercepted the car of the gangster’s father near Telephone Exchange chowk.

The gangster’s father promised the businessman and the politician that he would ‘manage’ the police and recover the cash. Earlier, the father of the gangster had started to threaten businessmen whenever they were going to ask back their cash.

A Lakadganj police station constable, now suspended in a different case, had carried out the so-called raid and cops took away the vehicle with the cash. One of the businessmen that the father of the gangster was going to threaten and harass anyone who had asked him for the money the cops took.

A few cops, including a senior PI as well, are likely to be part of the racket of fake raids as he went in search of one of the businessmen who had tried repeatedly to ask the gangster’s father for the cash.

The father of the gangster, who also has a case of fake note in Gadchiroli, will threaten the businessmen to involve them in fake cases and get cops to call them up and visit their places to harass them.

Nagpur updates:–

Forest dept confirms excavation of the murrum

Nagpur updates: The forest department has conducted a preliminary survey and reported the excavation of murrum from its notified forest reserve land at Mouza Kotumba, Selu tehsil, in Wardha district, after turning a blind eye to brazen violations over the past seven months. Activist Sandip Khedkar, who had revealed it, has said murrum mining is also underway in two more forest lands for Samruddhi Mahamarg construction.

On March 4, nagpur updates announced that three pieces of land, including forest land with mouza Kotumba khasra No. 206, had been excluded from the Wardha district administration for fine imposed on Samruddhi Mahamarg contractor Afcons Infrastructure Limited.

The administration promised that it will conduct surveys on two lands it owns— khasra No. 7 of mouza Itala reserved as a zudpi jungle and khasra No. 65 of mouza Giroli which is a hillock. The administration has also reportedly sent a letter for inspection to the forest department on the latter’s land with khasra no. 206.

Sunil Sharma, deputy forest conservator of Wardha,”The survey is being conducted over the last few days. The preliminary survey indicates clearly some excavation in No. 206 of khasra. This is a notified forest reserve.

The region is extremely divided, and the area is toodpi. I have demanded to map of the excavated area, evaluating the damage and reporting an offense. The atter will be prosecuted. “Sharma said on the seven-month delay,” Action will be taken against the workers involved in erring. After receiving a complaint from Khedkar, I was directed to inspect and take necessary action immediately, “he said.

Since August last year, had been reporting without permission on the excavation of murrum being done for Nagpur-Mumbai super communication expressway. Under RTI, Khedkar came to know that mouza Kotumba khasra No. 206 was forest land and in 1989 the department of social forestry had planted 15,200 on it and khasra no 210. Last year TOI reported the matter on 9 December.

Khedkar had lodged a complaint with all forest department offices right from Hingni to Wardha, Nagpur, and Mumbai on December 23, last year.

Citing a starred question in the state legislature council, Selu tehsildar Mahendra Sonone had written a letter to the departments of forests as well as social forestry. On 20 February, Selu police had written to the Forest Department on Khedkar’s complaint.

The forest service, however, remained quiet, and inspection has only begun now.

As per his preliminary inquiry, Sharma said khasra no. 206 was not a tiger corridor. “I think for Samruddhi Mahamarg 0.75 hectares from the total area of 4.68 hectares of this khasra have been de-notified and handed over,” he said.

Khedkar told TOI, “On March 9, I obtained documents from the Land Records Department and learned that khasra nos. 293/1 of 0.6 hectares and 293/2 of 50.71 hectares are also woodland. On 30 May 1997, the state government had handed these two lands over to the forest. These two lands are both undergoing excavations, “he said.

Sharma promised to look at those two lands as well.

Any type of excavation and forest felling on zudpi and notified reserved forest invites stringent action under the Forest Protection Act.

A spokesperson for Afcons said, “Afcons has consistently denied its participation in any kind of illicit excavation at all. Afcons seems to be unfairly targeted and harassed with a malafid intent to hinder the smooth implementation of Samruddhi Mahamarg, which is a public interest project. Such a false campaign is being motivated primarily to tarnish Afcons ‘ reputation in the corporate sphere.

Shivaji Maharaj’s values everlasting, should be observed’

Nagpur: The everlasting inspiration provided by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj must be understood by people through his values, way of life and acts. In today’s world, his ideas should be emulated, the thinker Sumant Tekade said Wednesday.

He delivered a lecture on’ Shabdanchya Palikadle Shivrai,’ organized at the Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar, to commemorate Shivaji Jayanti according to’ tithi.’ The event was coordinated by Chhatrapati Seva Pratishthan and was named’ Shivjayanti Utsav.’ Officer pro-vice-chancellor Vinayak Deshpande of Nagpur University presided. Secretary of the company Sanjay Deshkar attended.

Tekade said “Shivaji Maharaj has instilled the spirit of fighting back in his army. Shivaji proved to be a leading figure in guerrilla warfare, under the slogan of destroying the opponent’s fighting power. Indians were able to endure agonizing torment inflicted on them by the Portuguese.

“Highlighting the parenting style of his mother Jijabai, Tekade said,” Molding children from an early age has been a practice. To Shivaji, Jijabai fostered a warrior’s qualities from a tender age. In the present world, we have failed to follow this tradition.

“He spoke of the time that Shivaji dedicated to inculcating knowledge, skills, and attitude. “Youngsters in Nagpur complain about the dearth of job opportunities. They should be given ample time to build personalities from their busy schedule. Even if in a specific line of work one begins at a lower level, the goal must be to reach the top with hard work and passion, “he added.

“Media and cinemas are not factual testimonials. They are all forms of entertainment and fun as the media allow for free speech and fictionalization of such events. History may be called an account that was written by contemporary people during a given period. Background and references are important information that applies to a particular topic, “he said.

To interact with historical facts one should read related books, he said.

He also spoke about how swarajya would be a means to uplift the last guy. In the end, Deshpande congratulated Atul Guru, an authority on Shivaji’s forts, and activist Datta Shirke for their efforts to spread the Chhatrapati’s ideals.
